Course Overview (APUSH)

Advanced Placement United States History is a year-long course designed to be equivalent to a standard introductory survey course of American history as taught at any college or university. Our subject matter will include American history from pre-Columbian societies through modern times. In order to cover the material, the course must be extremely rigorous and it requires a substantial commitment in time and effort from the student in order to achieve success. This course is extremely challenging; however, it will help students master not only the basics of American history but develop and expand the skills necessary for success in college.

Course Overview (USH)
This is a two-semester survey course of American history from the age of exploration and colonization to the present. Solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to study and practice, are necessary to succeed. Students will study the change of ethnic composition in American society, the struggle of people of color, women and the poor for equality, and the role of the United States as a major world power.
