Mr. Wilson is very excited to return to Simon Tech. He joined the faculty in 2021. He is a Los Angeles native, attended Dorsey High School, and took two degrees from UCLA (B.A.- African-American Studies, M.F.A.- Film Directing). After a few years working in the film industry, he transitioned to education in 2005 and has been in the classroom ever since. Mr. Wilson has taught middle school and high school (in traditional public, charter schools, and private schools) and beginning in 2017 expanded his teaching practice to higher education. He teaches classes at UCLA, NYU, Long Beach City College, Cal State Long Beach, Columbia College Hollywood, and Los Angeles Valley College. In his spare time, Mr. Wilson likes to spend time with his family, read, visit museums, see plays, explore the city’s culinary offerings, and (of course) watch movies. Mr. Wilson has directed several short films, two feature films, and his film writing has been published at various websites including RogerEbert.com. He has also been a panelist and judge at film festivals and serves as a guest programmer for revival film theaters.
